GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke's Zack Greer was named the first 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, February 17. Greer helped his second-ranked Blue Devils to a 16-4 win on Saturday afternoon in front of 2,568 fans at Koskinen Stadium to open the season.
Greer scored four goals and handed out two assists, including an assist on teammate Max Quinzani's game-winning goal, in the victory. The attacker from Ontario, Canada, was credited for a team-high five ground balls. In addition, Greer had three goals and two assists in a 12-minute stretch as Duke extended a 3-1 lead to a 9-1 advantage in just over five minutes into the third period.
Now with 145 career goals, Greer moves into a tie for 25th place on the NCAA's all-time goals scored chart with Marist's Paul Donohue. On the ACC's all-time goals scored list, the senior moved past Virginia's Michael Watson (142) and into eighth place.
Duke men's lacrosse remains at home next Saturday to host Vermont. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
