COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland attackman Scott Hochstadt (Columbia, Md./Boys Latin) has been named a preseason first team All-America by College Lacrosse USA. The senior captain returns to the Terps after leading the team in scoring (66 points) and finishing second to since-graduated Matt Hahn in goals, with 48, in 1998.

Hochstadt, who helped lead the Terps to their second consecutive NCAA final in 1998, also finished seventh in the Preseason Player of the Year voting.

College Lacrosse USA's preseason second team features three Terrapins. Junior goalie Kevin Healy (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset), senior defenseman Chris Lamy (Linthicum, Md./North Country) and junior midfielder Brian Zeller (Forest Hill, Md./Loyola) were named to the second team.

Healy finished last season with a 14-3 record, posting a 9.03 goals against average. Lamy, who is a team captain this season, started all 17 games last year and was a stalwart on the backline. Zeller is the second-leading returning scorer for the 1999 season after he totaled 33 points (20 goals, 13 assists) last season.

The 1999 Maryland men's lacrosse schedule opens on Thursday, Feb. 25 as the Terps host the University of Denver at 4:00 p.m.
