CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - First-year attackman Conor Gill (the St. Paul's School in Baltimore, Md.) scored five first-quarter goals as Virginia defeated Rutgers 24-6 in men's lacrosse Tuesday at the University Hall Turf Field.

The Cavaliers (2-1) scored four goals in the game's first 1:41 and led 12-2 after one quarter, tying a school record for goals in a quarter.

"I took what they gave me and scored a couple of goals," Gill said. "The faceoff guys, Jason Hard and David Jenkins, did the hard part. I just had to put it in the goal."

Third-year attackman Drew McKnight had three assists in the first quarter for Virginia. The Cavaliers' third starting attackman, Tucker Radebaugh, finished the game with two goals and three assists.

Sophomore attackman Scott Massey (Garden City, NY) led Rutgers (1-3) with three goals and one assist.

Virginia hosts Massachusetts Saturday at 1 p.m.
