COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Two prep standouts and a transfer from Wichita State will join the 2002-03 University of Maryland men's golf team this fall, head coach Tom Hanna announced.

The newcomers will join a unit that advanced to the NCAA Central Regional in Little Rock, Ark., this past May. Newcomers are freshmen Devin Drobbin of Holmdel, N.J., and John Eades of Charlotte, N.C., and redshirt freshman Jeff Spradlin of Leawood, Kan.

Before Maryland: Four-year letterwinner and 2002 graduate of Holmdel High School ... a three-time first team All-Shore selection who was named third team all-state (group II) as a senior ... as a senior in 2002, finished tied for fifth in the league tournament and captured the individual title at the Monmouth County tournament ... selected to the Jersey Shore Challenge Cup for the third consecutive year ... as a sophomore, captured the Shore Conference individual title and finished fourth in the state regional tournament ... set a school record in a nine-hole match as a sophomore by carding a 32 ... in the summer of 2000, qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur at Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon ... in the summer of 2001, he posted three top 15 finishes in AJGA events.

Before Maryland: Earned four varsity letters at Charlotte Catholic High School ... was a two-time Rocky River 2A League Player of the Year, winning the honor as a freshman and sophomore ... finished fourth at the state championships as a junior and senior ... was a three-time Rocky River 2A individual champion and a four-time All-Mecklenburg County all-star ... set a pair of school scoring records as a junior, carding a 67 for 18 holes and 33 for nine holes ... captured the Midwest Regional individual title as a senior ... team MVP in 2002 ... posted a scoring average of 71.5 as a senior ... also played three years of varsity football (middle linebacker) ... was the football team captain as a senior ... selected to the 2002 North-South Amateur and the 2002 Carolina Amateur ... played in the U.S. Amateur and finished in the top 20 of the Optimist International in the summer of 2001 ... finished second at the World Junior Golf Cup in 2000.

Before Maryland: Transferred to University of Maryland in fall 2002 after redshirting the 2001-02 season at Wichita State ... did not see any action for the Shockers, who finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference ... a four-year letterman at Blue Valley North High School where he won four tournament titles his final two years ... placed sixth at the state tournament as a senior ... a two-time first team All-Eastern Kansas League and all-county selection ... won the 2001 Kansas Junior Amateur and was named the 2001 Kansas Junior Player of the Year ... was the captain of his squad for the Kansas-Nebraska Cup.
