July 28, 2005 CHARLOTTESVILLE - Three University of Virginia golfers have qualified for the 2005 U.S. Amateur to be held August 22-28 at the historic Merion Golf Club in suburban Philadelphia. Senior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) won the sectional at the Pine Hollow Country Club in East Norwich, N.Y., with a 140. A two-year starter, McLoughlin did not see action last season. Senior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) finished second in Lenoir City, Tenn., with a 137. He joined the UVa starting last season. Head coach Bowen Sargent and former Cavalier Kevin O'Connell (2000-05) qualified as alternates at the Beallsville, Md., sectional. Sargent shot a 142, while O'Connell followed by one stroke. A two-time team captain, O'Connell earned All-ACC honors following his senior season last spring.
