CHARLOTTESVILLE - University of Virginia golfer Steve Marino (Fairfax) finished tied for sixth at the Massey Cancer Center State Open of Virginia on July 22. Marino, who will be a senior at UVa this fall, finished the 72-hole tournament with a five-under-par total of 283 (66-71-70-76) on the Royal Virginia Golf Club course in Hadensville.

Marino led by one stroke after the third round of the tournament. He finished eight strokes back of tournament winner Keith Decker of Martinsville. Decker shot an eight-under-par 64 in the final round for a 13-under-par total of 275 (70-73-68-64).

Former Virginia golfer Cameron Yancey finished eighth with a four-under-par total of 284 (67-73-70-74). Yancey is from Blackstone.
