Martin Ureta Tied For Fourth Place At U.S. Amateur Public Links
July 11, 2006 BREMERTON, WASH. - Martin Ureta, a rising senior on North Carolina's golf team, fired a three-under-par 69 and is tied for fourth place after the first round of stoke play at the 81st U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship which is being played at Gold Mountain Golf Club, a par 72, 7,061-yard layout. Ureta, the runner-up in last year's event, is two strokes behind first-round leader Mitch Cohlmia, a rising senior at Tulsa, who fired a five-under 67. Two players, Ben Fox and J.C. Horne, are tied for second place at four-under 68. Justin Metzger is tied with Ureta in fourth place. The second round of stroke play will be played Tuesday before the field is trimmed to the low 64 players who will advance to match play. The first round of match play will be played Wednesday and the championship runs through Saturday's 36-hole final match.
