Garry Hill finished five-over at the Eastern Am to lead four Wolfpack golfers

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Garry Hill finished five strokes over-par to lead four members of the NC State men's golf team at the Eastern Amateur Golf Tournament at the Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club in Portsmouth, Va., July 7-10. Hill, a rising junior for the Wolfpack who hails from Johannesburg, South Africa, shot 72-69-72-72 to tie for 45th place.

Andrew Byrd finished two strokes behind Hill and Jace Strandberg was one behind Byrd. Bryd, a rising sophomore from Henderson, N.C., shot 69-75-77-67 and Strandberg, a rising sophomore from Greensboro, N.C., fired 69-75-72-72. Chase Duncan shot par in the first and final rounds and the rising sophomore from Lancaster, Pa., finished 12-over.

Banks Wood fired a 72 in the second round but missed the cut, along with teammate Carter Cheves.
