Carolina Golfer Moves On In North And South Amateur
July 6, 2006 PINEHURST, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfer David Holzworth advances to the third round of the 106th North and South Amateur, being played at Pinehurst #2, while teammate Ryan Holler lost his second-round match. Holzworth, a rising sophomore from Chapel Hill, defeated Missouri's John Kelly in the second round in 19 holes. Holzworth now faces Brady Schnell, a rising senior at Nebraska, in the third round which is also being played today. Tar Heel Ryan Holler, a rising junior from Morehead City, N.C., lost to Matt Harmon, a rising senior at Michigan State, 6&5. Match play of this year's prestigious North and South began on Wednesday. The second and third rounds are being played Thursday with quarterfinal matches on Friday, the semifinals on Saturday, and the 36-hole final will take place on Sunday.
