Lanford Steps Down As FSU Men's Golf Coach For New Role

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State University announced today that head men's golf coach Ernie Lanford is resigning his position in athletics to become the Coordinator of Internships for the Professional Golf Management Program in the College of Business. FSU recently become one of less than a dozen universities to be certified by the PGA to offer a curriculum in professional golf management. "We are pleased for Ernie Lanford and our PGM program that this opportunity developed and that Ernie will remain an integral part of FSU's growth relating to golf," said Dave Hart, Director of Athletics at Florida State. "We will move forward as quickly as possible to hire the best golf coach available to assume leadership of our men's golf program." Lanford guided Florida State to five appearances in the NCAA Championships in his eight-year tenure with the Seminoles. "The College of Business is fortunate to have a nationally
acclaimed golf expert in Dr. Ernie Lanford, to work as a teacher and mentor
for the young men and women enrolled in the Golf Management Program," added
Dr. Melvin Stith, Dean of the College of Business.
