Former Wolfpack Golfer Carl Pettersson Finishes Tied For 35th At Murphy's Irish Open
July 1, 2002 Two-time Wolfpack All-American golfer Carl Pettersson fired rounds of 67 in the opening two days of competition at the Murphy's Irish Open on the European PGA Tour and finished in a tie for 35th. Pettersson finished the tournament at four-under-par after closing with roudns of 72 and 74. Pettersson won the Algarve Open de Portugal early this year and has also finished in the top-5 four others times this year on the European PGA Tour. Tim Clark missed the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Classic despite shooting even-par 70s in the first two rounds. Clark, a three-time All-American and the 1997 ACC Player of the Year, finished tied for 86th, missing the cut by only one stroke. Clark finished ninth at the Compaq Classic of New Orleans in May and collected a purse of $112,500 by firing a tournament total of 68-67-75-68=278 (-10). In 2000, Clark won two tournaments on the Buy.com tour. He fired an outstanding 67-66-65-66=264 (-16) at the Fort Smith Classic and shot 66-67-69-67=269 (-15) at the Boise Open.
