Clemson, SC - Matt Hendrix, Ben Duncan and Gregg Jones all finished in
the top 30 of the Dogwood Invitational held in Atlanta, GA over the
weekend. The event is one of the top amateur golf events of the
summer. All three players were starters on Clemson's third ranked
team this past year.
Hendrix was Clemson's top finisher with a 278 score,
10-under-par. That was good enough for 10th place on the par 72
Druid Hills Golf Club Course. Hendrix had rounds of 70-67-68-73 in
registering his top individual finish of the summer. Hendrix will be
a junior on Clemson's team next fall.
Ben Duncan, who will be a senior on the Clemson team next
year, finished in 27th place with a 282 score, six-under par. Duncan
had rounds of 68-71-73-70. Gregg Jones, who will be a junior at
Clemson next year, finished 30th wit a 283 total. The second-team
All-American in 2002 had rounds of 66-72-72-73 for a five-under par
total.
Clemson All-American D.J. Trahan did not play in the Dogwood
Invitational. Many of Clemson's golfers will be taking part in the
Rice Planters Amateur at Mt. Pleasant over the 4th of July weekend.
