Nathan Smith carded a 73-76=149 at the U.S. Open

Duke rising junior Nathan Smith continued play in the 2004 U.S. Open on Friday, carding a six-over par 76 in the second round at the 6,996-yard, par-70 Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. Smith registered a 73-76=149 in his first U.S. Open appearance.

Smith recorded three birdies on the day and five in two rounds at the prestigious event. He did not make the cut.

Former Blue Devil standout Joe Ogilvie carded a five-over par 70-75=145 and qualified for weekend play.

Fellow Duke alum Leif Olson finished with a 13-over par 76-77=153.
