ATLANTA - Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro, a three-time All-American in golf, has made the first-team University Division Academic All-America At-Large team announced Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Castro, an Industrial Engineering major with a cumulative 3.82 grade-point average, earned all-district honors from CoSIDA last year and also was named an All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The GCAA has not yet announced its All-America Scholar awards for 2006.

The At-Large team is comprised of student-athletes from sports other than football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and track and field, who have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and are sophomores, juniors or seniors.

A junior from Alpharetta, Ga., Castro earned all-Atlantic Coast Conference honors this year for the third straight time, and was named an honorable mention All-America.

Castro and Tech teammate Kevin Larsen will compete for the United States in the 2006 Palmer Cup, an annual Ryder Cup-style competition between American collegiate golfers and their European counterparts, on June 29-30 at Prestwick Golf Club (6,544 yards, par 71) in Prestwick, Scotland.
