DURHAM, N.C. (Courtesy of GoDuke.com)-- Former three-time Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year selection Jamie Green has been named the head men's golf coach at Duke University, Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White announced on Friday.

"We are excited to announce Jamie Green as the new men's golf coach at Duke University," said White. "He has an outstanding reputation in the golf world and will be a great addition to our athletic department. Jamie has a proven track record as a winner and for developing excellent student-athletes both on and off the course. He clearly is one of the bright young coaches in America."

After spending the last five-and-a-half years as the head coach at Charlotte, Green will begin immediately with the Blue Devils competing in their first spring event Feb. 13-14 at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. He becomes the seventh head coach in Duke golf history.

"Duke is a world class university and I am grateful for the opportunity that Kevin White has granted me," said Green. "Duke has a great golf tradition and I will work passionately everyday to continue to build on that. Duke's tradition and amazing facilities are what every recruit and student-athlete can hope for. We have a strong group of players in place and a very good recruiting class who can and should succeed at the highest level."

During his tenure at Charlotte, Green led the 49ers to four NCAA Tournament appearances, finishing in the top 10 in 2007 and 2008. The 49ers were one of just nine teams to reach the NCAA Finals in each of the last three years. He also led the team to 17 wins overall, including 15 tournament titles over the last three seasons. The 49ers competed in 55 regular-season events, with 39 top five finishes. In 12 post-season events (league tournaments; NCAA Regionals, NCAA Championships), Charlotte posted seven top five finishes. Charlotte has won each of the last three Atlantic 10 Championships.
