NC State Third, Duke 13th in Stanford Golf Tournament

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The NC State men's golf team finished third and Duke finished 13th at The Joe Nelson Invitational, held at Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., over the weekend. The Wolfpack finished with a 14-over par 866 while the Blue Devils finished with a 30-over par 882. Team champion Colorado State finished at eight-over par 860.

Dukes Mike Christensen (Grand Rapids, Minn.) matched his career-best outing, finishing in a tie for fifth-place. The junior fired a three-under 68 in the final round to finish with a one-under par 212. The Blue Devils placed another golfer in the top 20, as senior Marc Chatelain (Flims, Switzerland) tied for 16th with a four-over 217.

The Duke mens golf team has concluded their 1998 fall season. They pick up again in March, at the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico from Feb. 21-23, 1999.
