Tar Heels Successfully Defend Duke Golf Classic Title
Tech finishes third and Virginia places sixth.

DURHAM, N.C. - For the second year in a row, the University of North Carolina won the Duke Golf Classic, held at Duke Golf Course in Durham, N.C. After heading into the final round in third place, the Tar Heels fired a 282 on the final 18 holes to finish even par and move ahead of Northwestern and Georgia Tech for the team title.

Eamonn Brady of East Tennessee State took home individual medalist honors, after finishing the 54-hole event with a five-under 211. Four players tied for second place with a 212, including Virginias James Driscoll, Northwesterns Luke Donald, North Carolinas Max Harris and East Tennessee States David Christensen.

With a team score of 290 in the final round, the Duke Blue Devils moved up four spots to finish ninth. Senior Kyle Elfers (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the way for Duke, finishing with a four-over 220 to tie for 18th.

The Blue Devils have one more stop on their fall tournament schedule, as they travel to the Stanford/Joe Nelson Invitational in Stanford, Calif. from Oct. 30 - Nov. 1.
