Virginia shot 16-over 300 during Saturday’s final round to finish the three-day 54-hole tournament at 889. Alabama, ranked No. 10, took top honors at 874 while No. 20 Tennessee was second at 878. Wake Forest Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At NCAA Regional; Advances To Championships GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Wake Forest men's golf team survived an eventful final round of the NCAA Northeast Regional Saturday afternoon to finish fifth and advance to its fifth-straight NCAA Championships. After carding a pair of 297s in the first two rounds, the Demon Deacons navigated their way through swirling winds and final round nerves to post a 296 and held off Colorado State in the race for the final qualifying spot. Senior Dustin Groves and junior Brendan Gielow, the Deacons two most experienced players, showed their might this week. Both players led the team with matching totals of 7-over 220 and finished in a tie for seventh.
