Administaff Augusta State Invitational Carolina Men's Golfers Finish Fifth In Two-Round Administaff ASU Invitational EVANS, GA.-- The Carolina men's golfers finished the second and final round of the Administaff ASU Invitational in fifth place with a one-under-par 575. Freshman Kevin O'Connell, of Cary, N.C. fired a three-under-par 69 in the second round. His performance in the second round allowed him to jump into 8th place, tying with Coastal Carolina's David Dannelly with a three-under-par 141. Junior Chase MacFarland, who was tied for first at the conclusion of the first round, tied for 23rd after carding an three-over-par 75 in the final round. MacFarland, of Savannah, Ga., finished with an equal-to-par 144. Henry Zaytoun, III, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., carded an equal-to-par 72 on Sunday to tie for 27th with a one-over-par 145. Senior Barden Berry, of Kinston, N.C., finished 47th with a three-over-par 147 total. Robert Riesen, a junior from Pinehurst, N.C., finished 73rd with a one-over-par 152 total. Georgia Tech Golfers Tie for Sixth at Augusta State Chesson Hadley led Georgia Tech Sunday with a 1-under par 71, and the 7th-ranked Yellow Jackets finished in a tie for sixth at the rain-shortened Administaff Augusta State Invitational in Evans, Ga. Hadley's 71 left him in a tie for 15th individually at 1-under-par 143, while Tech shot a 1-over 289 as a team on Sunday. David Dragoo and J.T. Griffin each shot even-par 72s on Sunday, while Cameron Tringale posted the Yellow Jackets' fourth counting score with a 74.
Clemson Finishes 8th at Administaff Augusta State Invitational Clemson, SC-Kyle Stanley shot a one-under-par 71 in the second and final round to lead Clemson to an eighth place finish at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, GA on Sunday. The 18-team event played at Champions Retreat was limited to just 36 holes due to inclement weather in the Augusta, GA area over the weekend. Clemson had played half of its second round on Saturday morning, then finished on Sunday morning. Clemson improved by 14 shots from its first round 296 to its second round 282, and improved by two places in the standing. UCLA was first with a final team score of 552, followed by Georgia at 568 and East Tennessee State at 569. South Carolina was fourth at 573 and North Carolina was fifth at 575. Georgia Tech and Lamar were tied for sixth at 577, just one stroke better than the Tigers, who finished at 578. Among the 10 teams Clemson defeated in the event was 11th ranked Tennessee, who finished at 581. Hokies finish ninth at Augusta State AUGUSTA, Ga. - Virginia Tech shot a total of 579 and finished in ninth place at the rain-shortened Administaff/Augusta State Invitational at the par-72, 7,403-yard Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on Sunday afternoon. The Hokies shot a final round four-under-par 284 on Sunday to complete their second round halted by rain on Saturday afternoon. The 54-hole tournament was shortened to 36 holes following the inclement weather that blew through the area on Saturday. Drew Weaver (Jr., High Point, N.C.) and Jurrian van der Vaart (Sr., Almelo, the Netherlands) each finished with a total of 142, following identical four-under-par 68s on Sunday and tied for 10th place. Lucas Lee of UCLA won medalist honors with 69-65=134, defeating Gareth Shaw of East Tennessee State by two strokes. NC State Finishes 11th at Administaff ASU Invite The NC State men's golf team finished in 11th place at the Administaff ASU Invite at Evans, Ga. The Wolfpack finished at eight-over (584) for the tournament, after shooting a seven-over (295) on Sunday. The tournament was shortened from 54 holes to 36 holes due to the weather on Saturday, and consisted of only two rounds of action. Darren Blair led the way for the Pack, as he finished at one-under for the tournament, tied for 15th place overall. After shooting a two-under (70) in Friday's first round, Blair used three birdies on Sunday at shot a one-over (73). Kent Copeland had the second highest finish for the Pack, as she finished the two rounds at one-over par. On Sunday, Copeland also had three birdies and shot a one-over (73) to go with his even-par (72) on Friday.
