Tringale Captures Southern Highlands Medal
Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale fired a 4-under-par 68 Sunday capture medalist honors, but the 12th-ranked Yellow Jackets shot 300 as a team and finished in a tie for sixth in the team race at the Southern Highlands Collegiate golf tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.

Tringale, a senior who won twice during his freshman year and again at the Brickyard Collegiate in the fall, rallied from a three-stroke deficit after 36 holes to win his fourth collegiate tournament with an 11-under-par total of 205. It mattered not that the senior from Laguna Niguel, Calif., bogeyed the final two holes. He was nearly perfect for the first 16, recording six birdies and no bogeys to build an insurmountable lead.

For the year, the All-American has 12 rounds of par or better out of 21, and has shot seven rounds in the 60s. It also was his fifth top-10 finish in seven events. His 68 Sunday was the best round of the day.

Tigers Finish Seventh at Southern Highlands Intercollegiate
Ben Martin shot a 54-hole score of 218 to finish in 11th place individually, leading Clemson to a seventh place finish in the 15-team field at the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate in Las Vegas, NV. The three-day tournament was played at the par 72, 7510-yard Southern Highland Course.

Host school UNLV won the event with an 855 score, one shot better than second ranked Oklahoma State. The Rebels overcame a 12-shot deficit entering the final round to win the tournament for the second straight year.

Georgia, who was 20 shots behind Clemson after the first round, finished third with an 870 score. Florida was fourth at 872 and Southern Cal was fifth at 879. Georgia Tech was sixth at 884 and Clemson was seventh at 887. The Tigers had a team score of 306 on Sunday on the difficult 7510 yard layout, the longest course Clemson will play all year.
