Tech's Molder Tied for Lead at Golf Digest Intercollegiate
March 13, 1999 LAS VEGAS - Georgia Tech's golf team shot an even par 288 and ended the second day of the Golf Digest Intercollegiate in fourth place, just six shots behind leader Georgia, who finished with a 574 total. Sophomore Bryce Molder (Conway, Ark.) tied David Gossett of Texas as the clubhouse leader after carding a 69 for a two-day total of 139 strokes. Play is being held at the 7,013-yard, par-72 Desert Inn Country Club. Tech, ranked No. 4 in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Foundation ranking,was the first day leader after shooting a 292 and currently hold fourth with a 580, which is four strokes over par as a team. Oklahoma State (578) and UNLV (579), moved into second and third place, respectively. Molder holds a share of first with a two-day 70-69-139 and is currently the only Tech player in the Top 10. Freshman Kris Mikkelsen (Woodstock, Ga.) is in 12th and just six strokes off the lead after shooting a 69 Saturday to finish 75-69-145. Sophomore Wes Latimer (Woodstock, Ga.) is tied for 23 with a 72-75-147, while junior Carlton Forrester (Gainesville, Ga.) is tied for 40th with a 75-75-150 and junior Matt Kuchar (Lake Mary, Fla.) is tied for 47th with a 75-76-151. The tournament concludes Sunday with 18 holes.
