Clemson Finishes Second at Puerto Rico Classic
Ben Martin fired a final round 66 and finished third overall, leading Clemson to a second-place team finish out of 15 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The tournament that included six top 15 teams, was played at the par 72 Rio Mar Country Club course.

Georgia won the event with a 38-under par score of 826. Clemson's 838 score was 26 under par, tied for the eighth best team score vs. par in Clemson history. It was the best team score vs. par by a Clemson team since a 26-under score at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in the fall of 2004.

Oklahoma State, ranked second in the nation entering the tournament, finished third, 10 shots behind the Tigers at 848. Texas was fourth (853), followed by Georgia Tech (85). In addition to the 10-shot victory over second-ranked Oklahoma State, the Tigers defeated fourth ranked Alabama by 27 shots. 

Georgia Tech Finish Fifth at Puerto Rico
Freshman James White shot a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday to complete his first career top-10 finish, and 13th-ranked Georgia Tech held its position in fifth place following a final-round 5-under 283 at the Puerto Rico Classic golf tournament.

White, an Acworth, Ga., native playing in his fourth college tournament finished 54 holes at 8-under-par 208, with every round under par. He was four strokes off the pace of Georgia's Hudson Swafford (67 Sunday) and Texas' Dylan Fritelli (73), who tied for medalist honors at 12-under 204.

Second-ranked Georgia, with three players finishing among the top five individuals, ran away with the team title, shooting a 15-under-par score of 273 Sunday for a tournament total of 826 (38-under-par). No. 8 Clemson was a distant second at 838 (26-under-par), No. 3 Oklahoma State third at 848 (16-under), No. 15 Texas fourth at 853 (11-under) and Tech fifth at 855 (9-under). 

NC State Finishes Sixth at Puerto Rico; Three Golfers Earn Top-20 Showings
The NC State men's golf team brought home a sixth place finish at the 2009 Puerto Rico Classic this weekend. The Pack placed three golfers in the top-20 in the individual standings.

In Sunday's third and final round, the Pack shot a three-over (291), its lowest round of the tournament. NC State had a seven-under in the first round, followed by a two-under in Saturday's second round. NC State finished the tournament at six-under (858).

Georgia brought home the top team honors, finishing at 38-under. Hudson Swafford of Georgia and Dylan Fritelli of Texas tied for first in the individual standings, each finishing at 12-under (204).
