GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina Wide Receiver Hakeem Nicks and Florida State Defensive End Everette Brown headline the Atlantic Coast Conference Football Players of the Week for the games of Oct. 25. Nicks scored four touchdowns in the Tar Heels’ 45-24 win over Boston College while Brown had three sacks, all in the second quarter, to help Florida State to a 30-20 win over Virginia Tech. Brown was named Defensive Lineman of the Week with five tackles, four for loss and three sacks. His four tackles for loss cost the Hokies 15 yards and moved him into sixth place all-time at Florida State with 36.5 career TFL.

Barker claimed Offensive Lineman of the Week honors as he helped the Cavalier offense gain 396 yards in the 24-17 win over No. 21 ranked Georgia Tech. He did not allow a sack and held the Yellow Jacket defensive ends to only five tackles. Burney made two interceptions to claim Defensive Back of the Week honors. Both set up Tar Heel touchdowns, and his 37-yard return on the opening drive of the second half gave North Carolina the ball on the Boston College 1-yard line. He also had eight tackles in the win over the Eagles.

Gano took Specialist of the Week honors for the second consecutive week as he made three field goals from 50, 46 and 29 yards to help Florida State to a 30-20 win over Virginia Tech. OFFENSIVE BACK—Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina, WR, 6-1, 210, Jr., Charlotte, N.C.
In North Carolina’s 45-24 victory over No. 23 Boston College, Nicks became the first Tar Heel to score four touchdowns in a game since 2006. He had a career-high three touchdown receptions (26, 40 and 43 yards) in the second quarter and scored on a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter. Nicks finished with eight catches for 139 yards receiving and three carries for 31 yards. It was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season and the ninth of his career.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN—Will Barker, Virginia, Tackle, 6-7, 315, Jr., Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Barker played every snap in the Cavaliers’ 24-17 win over Georgia Tech and was the line’s second-highest grader while going up against the Yellow Jacket’s stellar defensive ends. He did not allow a sack as Virginia completed 29-of-39 passing for a season high 270 yards. The Cavaliers also rushed for 126 yards on the Georgia Tech defense that had allowed just over 100 yards per game throughout the season.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN—Everette Brown, Florida State, DE, 6-4, 246, Jr., Stantonsburg, N.C.
Brown sacked the Hokie quarterbacks three times becoming the first FSU player to record three sacks in a game since Alonzo Jackson in 2002. His four tackles for loss pushed Brown’s career total to 36.5 moving him past Corey Simon (33) into sole possession of sixth place all-time at Florida State. Brown set a single-game career-high with four tackles for loss against the Hokies. His three sacks set a new single-game career-high surpassing his previous best of two set last year against Alabama and earlier this year against Chattanooga.

Burney intercepted two passes, broke up a pass and posted eight tackles, including one for a 2-yard loss, in UNC’s 45-24 win over No. 23 Boston College. With 3:45 remaining in the first half, Burney intercepted a Chris Crane pass on the boundary to give the Tar Heels possession on the Eagle 44-yard line, eventually leading to a North Carolina touchdown. On Boston College’s first possession of the second half, Burney stepped in front of the receiver and weaved his way 37 yards to the Eagles’ 1-yard line to set up a Tar Heel touchdown.
