Ron Curry Live Chat On Thursday At 1:30 p.m. ET
Sept. 22, 1999 On Thursday, University of North Carolina quarterback Ronald Curry will make a special live chat appearance on ESPN.com to talk about his team and the 1999 season. Curry, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound sophomore, has helped lead the Tar Heels to a 1-1 record, including a 42-30 victory over Indiana last week. Curry passed for 241 yards and two touchdowns, completing 19 of 24 passes against the Hoosiers. So far this season, Curry leads the Tar Heels in rushing (100 yards and three touchdowns in two games) and total offense (244 yards per game). He has thrown seven touchdowns, completing 29 of 52 passes for 388 yards. The Hampton, Va., native, who also is a member of UNC's men's basketball team, was thrust into the starting job at quarterback last year after senior starter Oscar Davenport suffered an injury on the fifth play of the Tar Heels' opening game of the 1998 campaign. Curry went on to pass for 975 yards, a school record for freshmen, and led UNC with 1,394 total offensive yards, a UNC single-season record for freshmen. After leading UNC to a 7-5 record, Curry finished second in voting for the ACC Freshman of the Year.
