Sept. 8, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest's Riley Skinner and Sam Swank headline ACC Players of the Week for Week 2. Skinner led the Demon Deacon offense on a nine play, 57-yard drive to set up Swank for a 41-yard game winning field goal in Wake's 30-28 victory over Mississippi. Joining the Deacon duo is Florida State offensive tackle Rodney Hudson, Georgia Tech defensive tackle Darryl Richard, NC State outside linebacker Nate Irving and Duke wide receiver Johnny Williams.

Skinner earns his second Offensive Back of the week honor by completing a career high 32-of-43 passes for 267 yards against Ole Miss. Hudson earned Offensive Lineman of the Week honors as he helped the Seminoles rush for 290 yards and gain 561 yards of total offense in their 69-0 win over Western Carolina.

Georgia Tech's Richard earned Defensive Lineman of the Week honors with five tackles, three for loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup in the Yellow Jacket's win over Boston College. The Wolfpack's Irving earned the Defensive Back of the Week award with 13 tackles and two turnovers that led to points. Irving returned an interception to the William and Mary six-yard line to set up the first NC State touchdown of the season.

Rounding out this week's team is Duke's Williams who earned Rookie of the Week honors. Williams caught 11 passes for 135 yards in the Blue Devil's 24-20 loss to Northwestern.

OFFENSIVE BACK--Riley Skinner, Wake Forest, QB, 6-1, 205, Jr. Jacksonville, Fla.
Skinner set career highs with 32 completions and 43 attempts, and fell just four yards shy of tying his career high for passing yards with 267. Skinner moved the Deacon offense from its own 20 with 1:01 to play and completed five of eight passes for 42 yards in driving Wake to the Ole Miss 23 before Swank hit his game-winner.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN--Rodney Hudson, Florida State, T, 6-2, 290, So., Mobile, Ala.
The freshman All-American picked up right where he left off in 2007, as the Seminoles' best offensive lineman. The guard graded out at 89% and played more snaps than any other lineman on the team as FSU rushed for 290 yards in a 69-0 win. Hudson even slid over and played center for the first time in his career. The second-year player recorded five knockdowns and graded out at 91% in run blocking situations.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN--Darryl Richard, Georgia Tech, DT, 6-4, 290, Sr., Destrehan, La.
Richard recorded a team-high three tackles-for-loss, forced a fumble and batted down a Chris Crane pass in Saturday's win at Boston College. Richard had four solo tackles and five tackles total. The Yellow Jackets held Boston College to just 60 yards in the second half and kept the Eagles scoreless in the fourth quarter as Tech overcame a 16-10 deficit for the victory.

DEFENSIVE BACK--Nate Irving, NC State, OLB, 6-1, 225, So., Wallace, N.C.
Irving led NC State in total tackles for the second week in a row, amassing 13 total tackles, including 1.5 for losses totaling six yards. He added a fumble recovery, which he returned for 13 yards, and intercepted a first-quarter pass deep in William & Mary territory. The interception set up NC State's first touchdown of the season when he returned the ball to the W&M six-yard line.

SPECIALIST--Sam Swank, Wake Forest, P/PK, 6-2, 201, Sr., Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
Swank scored 12 points on three field goals and three PATs on Saturday in Wake Forest's 30-28 win over Ole Miss. Swank was good on field goals of 21 and 27 yards before hitting the game-winner from 41 yards out with three seconds remaining in the game. Swank is five for five on field goal attempts this year and has made nine straight field goal attempts dating back to last season. Swank, the NCAA's active career leader, now has 65 field goals for his career and has been successful on all 114 of his career PAT attempts.

ROOKIE--Johnny Williams, Duke, WR, 5-10, 190, Fr., St. Stephens, Ala.
Williams caught a game-high 11 passes for 135 yards in Duke's 24-20 loss to Northwestern. The receiving total of 135 yards ranks as the second-highest single-game total by a freshman in Duke history. His 11 catches is the top single-game performance by a freshman in the nation this season. Williams did most of the work in the second half, catching nine balls for 113 yards in the final 30-minutes.
