CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - As the Virginia football team continues to prepare for its much-anticipated home opener versus ACC rival North Carolina on Saturday, Cavalier fans have an array of entertainment options leading up to the game, in which to show their Cavalier Pride. The onslaught of "Orange Fever" has revived the annual "Paint the Town Orange" Pep Rally in conjunction with Fridays After Five at the Downtown Mall. Head coach Al Groh, along with the Virginia cheerleaders and the brand new Cavalier Marching Band, will energize fans with a pep rally at the Downtown Mall Amphitheatre, beginning Friday, Sept. 10 at approximately 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 11, Cavalier Fan Fest will debut with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. at the Aquatic and Fitness Center at the Carl Smith Center. The interactive fan area will feature a live band, large screen televisions, inflatable yard toys, face painting, Polaroid picture stations, plus much more. Fan Fest will conclude with a pep rally with the band and cheerleaders on Whitehead Road at approximately 2:45 p.m. In conjunction with Fan Fest, the Virginia Football team will continue the "Wahoo Walk" to the stadium along Engineer?s Way. The team will begin the "Wahoo Walk" approximately two-hours prior to kick-off on McCormick Road at the Chemistry Building. Fans will want to get into Scott Stadium early in order to catch the debut of the Cavalier Marching Band. The band promises to electrify Scott Stadium with a grand high-stepping entrance, spirited tunes and a special "V" tunnel for the team entrance.
