COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland football team will get plenty of airtime this season, even before the first kick of September 4th's season opener against Northern Illinois at Byrd Stadium. Several preseason specials will feature the Terps including pieces by ESPN, College Sports Television and Fox Sports Net.

Fox Sports' "Saturdays in the South" will feature head coach Ralph Friedgen in a story done at his lake house in Georgia over the summer. In the piece, Friedgen is joined by friend and Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer. The preseason special will air on Ch. 7 WLJA in Washington D.C. on August 21st at 4:00 p.m. In addition, a feature on former Terp Frank Reich will air a week later on August 28th at 1:00 p.m. on WJLA.

Friedgen will also be a part of the ESPN College Football preseason special, a show that is being taped this weekend in Orlando, Fla. The air date for the show has yet to be determined.

This past week, CSTV went behind the scenes with the Terps as a crew came to College Park for the first taping of two parts of their "Dog Days" program. The show is an inside look at the rigors of preparing for a season and Maryland is one of four schools that will have a half hour special on the all-college sports network. CSTV will be back during preseason camp with the Terps and though an air date has yet to be determined, it should be on prior to the Terps' September 4 season opener.
