'Noles Go Prime Time
July 27, 2000 ORLANDO - Sunshine Network and Florida State University (FSU) announced today that the network will produce and televise taped coverage of all 11 FSU regular season football games this season, bolstering the network's strong year-round coverage of FSU athletics, which rivals that of any other Division I university. Last season, six home games were produced by Sunshine Network and aired during the network's "Prime Time 'Noles" time block Sundays at 7 p.m. (ET). This year, all 11 regular season home and away games will be produced and replayed during that same time period, Sundays at 7 p.m., statewide on Sunshine Network. Each game will also replay Mondays at 1 p.m. and each edition of "The Bobby Bowden Show" will air Sundays at 12 noon and Mondays at 4 p.m. The football replays, coupled with the network's comprehensive year-round coverage of FSU athletics, provides Florida State with significant exposure and provides FSU fans with more programming than ever before. It underscores a relationship between the University and Sunshine Network that has continued for more than a decade and provides countless hours of FSU programming on the statewide network including athletics and public affairs shows spotlighting academics and cultural events in Tallahassee. The games selected will air live on national networks, in regional syndication or via pay-per-view, but will also be produced by Sunshine Network, with Paul Kennedy and Keith Jones calling the action along with sideline reporter Tom Block. Additionally, Sunshine Network has a separate agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), providing even more FSU programming to the network and its viewers, including the weekly "ACC Live," which this year will be part of the Monday night editions of SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE!. In addition to the football replays, Sunshine Network will also air the "SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE! Florida State Seminoles Preseason Special," airing live Thursday, August 17, at 6:30 p.m. with repeats scheduled for later that night at 11:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, at 4:30 p.m. and Monday, August 21, at 12 Noon. The "ACC Preseason Special" airs Sunday, August 27, at 12:30 p.m. and Monday, August 28, at 12:30 p.m. The network is also profiling Coach Bobby Bowden in the second installment of FLORIDA SPORTS PROFILES, airing throughout August. "Seminole Sports Magazine" will air Mondays at 11:30 am, beginning August 28, and repeat Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and "Seminole Uprising" will air Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. beginning September 2. FSU athletics will also be a large part of the network's local sports news coverage currently in development. Plans call for a full two-hours of live nightly sports news and features programming this fall with the launch of FLORIDA SPORTS NEWS at 10 p.m. with Barry Milligan and Tom Block and the re-launch of Sunshine Network's popular SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE! program with Pat Clarke and Charles Davis. These programs will focus entirely on sports in Florida. FLORIDA SPORTS NEWS co-host and Sunshine Network's FSU sideline reporter Tom Block will be assigned to cover FSU full-time and, with his knowledge and inside access to FSU athletics, will be in the perfect position to provide the inside scoop to FSU fans on both sports news programs. Mondays during football season, the second half-hour of SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE! from 7-7:30 p.m. will be the weekly "ACC Live" program. The partnership between Florida State and Sunshine Network dates back to 1987, when the University became the first institution to sign a programming agreement with the network, which launched in March 1988. Over the years, programming featuring Florida State University has increased significantly. Future plans call for additional games, events and programs to be added to the network's year-round schedule. Sunshine Network is Florida's largest and leading regional sports network and, with no national sports network affiliation, is the state's only sports network devoting its entire schedule to local programming. With over 5.2 million homes and more than 20 teams/properties under contract, Sunshine Network is the Florida sports fans' first and only source for comprehensive coverage of sports in the Sunshine State.
