COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland football season-ticket campaign took to the streets and neighborhoods across the state recently when Terp football yard signs popped up in a number of places.

The signs are part of a season-ticket campaign that began in February designed to capitalize on the success of back-to-back seasons with at least 10 victories and a win over Tennessee in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl last December. The theme "Are You In or Are You Out?" has attracted attention throughout the early stages of the campaign and has been featured on radio and television commercials, billboards, posters, schedule cards, T-shirts and other items.

"We're one of only a few universities around the nation who have used this promotion as part of our larger season-ticket campaign," said Chrystie Klar, the director of marketing for Maryland Athletics. "This is a non-traditional, grass-roots marketing initiative that gives us another means of generating excitement and anticipation for the 2003 season.

"We hope fans all over the state will contact us to get involved and help the effort by putting these signs in their yards."

The yard signs are being placed with season-ticket holders and Terrapin Club members throughout the region. The goal is to continue to raise awareness of the availability of football season tickets and to encourage fans to say they're "In" by purchasing season tickets.

Fans interested in putting signs in their yards can pick them up at the Maryland Athletics Marketing Office, located on the ground level of Comcast Center, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, July 26 from 9 a.m. until noon and on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. until noon.

The season-ticket campaign, which has a goal of 30,000 tickets, will continue until the Terrapins' home-opener on Saturday, Sept. 13 against The Citadel.
