Wake Forest Football Season Ticket Sales Are Up
July 12, 2000
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Compared to this time one year ago, the sale of Wake Forest football season tickets are on the rise. Season ticket sales for the 2000 season are up nearly 10 percent, associate athletic director for marketing and promotions Joel Nielsen announced today. "The success that our team enjoyed, including a convincing win in a bowl game, has stirred even more interest in our program," Nielsen said. "Coach (Jim) Caldwell's team plays an exciting, successful brand of football and our fans are responding to that. There is a great deal of optimism surrounding the future of our football program." Wake Forest finished the 1999 season with a 7-5 record, including a 23-3 win over Arizona State in the Jeep Aloha Bowl. The bowl appearance was the first by a Demon Deacon team since 1992.
Six home games in Groves Stadium highlight the 2000 season, including dates
with Appalachian State, North Carolina, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Duke and
defending national champion Florida State. The Deacs open the season on
Thursday, Aug. 31 against Appalachian State.
