2006 Football Saturdays in the South Storylines




Show #1-Game Day
We kick off our third season of Aaron's Football Saturdays in the South with an in-depth and behind-the-scenes look at game day. Come and experience the pre-game festivities, tailgating and locker room talks around the South. We'll head to LSU for some extreme tailgating...and to another Death Valley where Tigers are King. We'll tell you about the eagle bringing Auburn fans to their feet as well as Renegade at Florida State. We'll also get all-access to the pre-game excitement in the Carolinas.

Show #2-Katrina
This show deals with the sports world and their relief efforts and response to Hurricane Katrina. We'll visit with 1996 Heisman Trophy winner and former Florida Quarterback Danny Wuerffel and discover a miraculous story of hope and perseverance. We'll also tell you about the LSU football team's life-changing season...a year that began with tragedy but one that was an inspiration to the entire state. We'll also head to New Orleans to visit with Duke running back Cliff Harris who found out the heroism of his mom during the storm. Finally, we'll tell the story of Auburn defensive end Alonzo Horton who found out his family included his teammates and coaches.

Show #3-Legends
We will feature some legends of college football in this show. We'll introduce you to the 1980 Heisman Trophy winner and former South Carolina running back, George Rogers, who shows our Dave Baker a little about playing golf. We'll also get together with former N.C. State linebacker, Bill Cowher, who happened to coach the Pittsburgh Steelers to a Super Bowl title this past season. We'll also sit down with Hall of Fame player and coach, Frank Broyles. He has been at Arkansas for 49 years as head football coach or Athletic Director but at 81-years old, has another passion in his life. We'll also visit Knoxville where David Cutcliffe has returned to coaching. The Vols Offensive Coordinator returns to Tennessee after a difficult year away from the game. Finally, we'll introduce you to the man behind Under Armour. Former Maryland fullback, Kevin Plank, has a success story to tell us about.

Show #4-Legends
This show will highlight some of the stars of yesteryear including Warrick Dunn and Keith Brookings who are stars on and off the field. Both Atlanta Falcon players have a strong commitment to their communities. We also visit with three former quarterbacks as they lead teams of a different kind. Former Alabama All-American, Jay Barker, coaches his son's Little League team while former Tennessee All-American, Heath Shuler, is in a race to be a U.S. Representative from North Carolina. Finally, we catch up with former Virginia All-American, Shawn Moore, as he returns home to Martinsville, Virginia.

Show #5-Stars of Today/Offense
This show will feature this season's offensive stars including Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson...one of the best receivers in the nation. We'll also check in with Kentucky's 1,000 yard rusher Rafael Little who has some inspiration from a man named "Radio". We'll hang out with South Carolina Quarterback, Blake Mitchell, and Wide Receiver, Sidney Rice, who were the dynamic duo for the Gamecocks last season. Down the road in Clemson, we'll see how Will Proctor is handling his new role as the heir apparent to Charlie Whitehurst at quarterback. Finally, we'll tell you about Wake Forest Running Back, Micha Andrews, who could be heading to the stage in the near future.

Show #6-Stars of Today/Defense
This show will feature some of the defensive stars of the coming season including Florida linebacker Brandon Siler...who takes us off the field to the other sport he loves...bowling. We'll also check in with Georgia Defensive End and pre-season All-American Quentin Moses who's making his hometown fans proud. We'll get together with Ole Miss Linebacker and pre-season All-American, Patrick Willis, who takes us into the film room. We'll head down to Miami and find out why the Hurricanes have one of the best defensive backfields in college football. Finally, we'll introduce you to Maryland Linebacker, Josh Wilson, who makes big hits on the field but is making a name for himself off the field as well.
