Gene Arnette Joins Virginia Sports Network
July 5, 2000 CHARLOTTESVILLE-- - Former University of Virginia quarterback Gene Arnette will handle sideline reports during UVa football games this fall for the Virginia Sports Network. Arnette joins Mac McDonald (play-by-play) and former UVa teammate Frank Quayle (analyst) as the third member of the network's broadcast team. He replaces Mike Groh who accepted a position with the New York Jets earlier this year. "We're thrilled to have someone like Gene as part of our announcing team," McDonald said. "Arnette loves Virginia football and as a former quarterback will add a lot to our coverage. Our sideline reporter is very important to our overall broadcast." Arnette was co-captain of the 1968 Virginia football team and ranks among the Cavaliers' career passing leaders.
Arnette is currently vice president of Tiger Fuel in Charlottesville.
