Miami Overpowers Lafayette, 98-66

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Jack McClinton scored 23 points to lead Miami past Lafayette 98-66 on Saturday. McClinton made four 3-pointers and hit 7-of-11 shots from the floor. It was his fourth 20-point game of the season.

Brian Asbury added a career-high 19 points for Miami on 8-of-12 shooting. Asbury also had three blocks and three steals. Miami (4-2) went on a 12-0 run in the first half and led 60-40 into halftime. They led by as many as 34 points in the closing minutes of the game.

Denis Clemente and Raymond Hicks also scored in double figures for the Hurricanes, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively off the bench. The Hurricanes converted 20-of-24 from the free-throw line and out-rebounded the Leopards 42-28.

Deacons Make Five Straight With Win Over Appalachian State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Kyle Visser had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Wake Forest won its fifth straight game by beating Appalachian State 88-78 on Saturday.

Visser, one of two seniors on the Wake Forest roster, helped the Demon Deacons open 5-0 for the second time in three years.

Freshman Ishmael Smith added 14 points and eight assists, Harvey Hale had 13 points, Jamie Skeen added 12 and Anthony Gurley had 10 for Wake Forest, which has not lost to the Mountaineers (2-2) in 20 games.

Boston College Men's Basketball Tops Rhode Island, 86-68

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (AP) -Boston College captains Jared Dudley and Sean Marshall spent part of their holiday weekend trying to snap the Eagles out of a two-game losing streak.

Dudley called a team meeting for Thanksgiving Day to discuss the previous night's loss to unranked Providence. Marshall addressed his teammates individually, writing each of them a one-page e-mail detailing what he'd like to see.

"I wanted it to be from the heart," Marshall said Saturday after 23rd-ranked Boston College beat Rhode Island 86-68. "I've learned to love these guys. I got kind of emotional when I was writing it. Hopefully, I showed I love them, and I want us to play like a family on the court."

McRoberts, Scheyer Lead Duke Past Davidson, 75-47

DURHAM, N.C. - Josh McRoberts and Jon Scheyer scored 14 points apiece and Duke held Davidson to 28.6 percent field goal shooting as the Blue Devils defeated the Wildcats, 75-47, in men's basketball action on Saturday night in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke improves to 5-1 on the year while Davidson falls to 4-3.

Duke used an 11-2 run spanning 4:12 to push an 11-8 lead to a 22-10 advantage on two foul shots by Scheyer. Scheyer then scored five points as the Blue Devils closed the first half with a 9-0 spurt to claim a 34-18 lead at intermission.
