![]() 2008 NBA Opening Day Rosters List 58 players From ACC schools

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A total of 58 players from 11 of the 12 current Atlantic Coast Conference schools were listed on the NBA opening day rosters for the 2008-09 season. Duke leads all ACC schools with 14 players listed, while North Carolina is second with 11. Georgia Tech is third with nine and Maryland is fourth with five. A year ago the ACC had 53 players listed on opening day rosters. Included among this year’s class of ACC players is a two-time NBA Player of the Year - Wake Forest’s Tim Duncan and six NBA Rookie of the Years - Duncan, Duke’s Grant Hill and Elton Brand, Maryland’s Steve Francis, North Carolina’s Vince Carter and Wake Forest’s Chris Paul. In addition, there are six ACC players who have earned first, second or third-team All-NBA honors a total of 20 times and 14 players who were selected to the All-NBA Rookie first team and eight to the second team. The Milwaukee Bucks are the only NBA team without a player from an ACC school, as 29 of the league’s 30 teams list at least one player from a conference-member institution. Five former ACC players making their NBA debut this season are Duke’s DeMarcus Nelson (Golden State), Georgia Tech’s Anthony Morrow (Golden State), North Carolina’s Jawad Williams, NC State’s J.J.
