2008-09 ACC Basketball Schedule Highlighted by 273 Television Appearances

    GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The 2008-09 Atlantic Coast Conference basketball schedule released today by Commissioner John Swofford is highlighted by 273 television appearances by the league’s 12 member schools. The schedule also includes 179 televised games involving ACC teams and marks the fifth-straight year the ACC has had more than 250 television appearances.

    ACC Basketball Schedule by the Numbers

    151 - ACC teams are scheduled to make 151 appearances on national television networks, including 99 appearances on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU (at present, more selections to follow), 35 on Fox Sports Net, 10 on ABC and seven on CBS.

    25 – ACC teams are scheduled to play a total of 25 games against 21 non-conference opponents that earned NCAA Tournament berths in 2008.

    19 - Fox Sports Net and affiliates will televise 19 Sunday afternoon and evening games on a national basis, starting with North Carolina hosting UNC-Asheville on November 30. This season, 14 of the 19 FSN Sunday games are conference match-ups.

    10 - Headlining the league’s non-conference schedule is the 10th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 1-3, pairing two of the nation's premier conferences in a regular season challenge series. Last year the ACC won the Challenge for the ninth-straight time, winning eight of the 11 games played. The ACC (.642) and the Big Ten (.615) are the two winningest conferences in NCAA Tournament history.
