Aug. 23, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The 2007-08 Atlantic Coast Conference basketball schedule released today by Commissioner John Swofford is highlighted by 280 television appearances by the league's 12 member schools. The schedule also includes 180 televised games involving ACC teams and marks the fourth-straight year the ACC has had more than 250 television appearances and the 13th year in a row with 200 or more. ACC Basketball Schedule by the Numbers 155 - ACC teams are scheduled to make 155 appearances on national television networks, including 54 appearances on ESPN, 33 on Fox Sports Net, 29 on ESPN2, 20 on ESPNU, 10 on ABC, eight on CBS and one on ESPN Classic. 89 - Eighty-nine of the league's 96 conference games (93%) are scheduled to be televised. Maryland hosts Boston College in the first league game on Dec. 9 in College Park. 78 - Remaining days until the 2007-08 season officially opens on Friday, November 9, with four games scheduled - UNC Greensboro at Georgia Tech, North Carolina Central at Duke, Nicholls State at Florida State, Elon at Virginia Tech and Fairfield at Wake Forest. 45 - League teams will play 45 percent of the non-ACC NCAA Tournament field from last year. League teams are scheduled to play a total of 33 games against 26 non-conference opponents that earned NCAA Tournament berths in 2007-08. Additionally there are 17 games slated against 14 teams that earned bids into last year's National Invitational Tournament. 39 - ACC teams return 39 starters (65%) for the 2007-08 season ... for the second-straight season, 10 teams return three or more starters ... a year ago, ACC teams returned 41 starters (68%) from the previous season ... Clemson, Duke, Florida State, NC State and Wake Forest each return a league-high four starters while Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia return three starters ... Maryland and Virginia Tech each return a league-low two starters. 19 - Fox Sports Net and affiliates will televise 19 Sunday afternoon and evening games on a national basis, starting with Miami hosting St. John's on December 2. This season 14 of the 19 Sunday games are conference match-ups. 9 - Headlining the league's non-conference schedule is the ninth annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Nov. 26-28, pairing two of the nation's premier conferences in a regular season challenge series. Last year the ACC won the Challenge for the eighth-straight time, winning eight of the 11 games played. The ACC (.642) and the Big Ten (.616) are the two winningest conferences in NCAA Tournament history. Additional television selections by ACC television partners are pending and will be announced at a later date.
