ALMADA, Portugal - Chris Williams of the University of Virginia scored 13 points and grabbed three rebounds to help the USA Junior World Championship Team to an 83-71 victory over Argentina on Monday to open quarterfinals play in the 1999 FIBA Men's Junior World Championship in Almada, Portugal. The USA is now 4-0 in the tournament. Argentina is 2-2.

Williams, a 6-6 forward, made six of 12 shots from the field, missing both of his three-point field goal attempts, and made his only free throw attempt. He also had two blocked shots, one steal and one turnover in a team-high 31 minutes of action.

Adam Hall, a 6-5 guard/forward from the University of Virginia, played eight minutes in the game. He scored two points and grabbed one rebound. Hall made one of three shots from the field, missing both of his three-point field goal attempts.

Steve Logan scored 15 points to lead the USA team, Keyon Dooling scored 12 points and Lance Williams added 10 points.

The USA shot 50.8 percent (32-63) from the field and out-rebounded Argentina 36-31.

The USA team next plays Brazil on Tuesday (July 20).
