ALMADA, Portugal - Virginia's Chris Williams scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds to help the USA Junior World Championship Team to a 92-87 victory over Greece on Friday in the 1999 FIBA Men's Junior World Championship in Almada, Portugal. The USA is now 2-0 in the tournament. Greece, the defending Junior World Champion, is now 1-1.
Williams, a 6-6 forward, made four of six shots from the field, including one of two three-point field goal attempts, and one of two free throw attempts. He also had two assists and two steals in 21 minutes of action.
Fellow Cavalier Adam Hall, a 6-5 guard/forward, played three minutes in the game for the USA and did not score.
Michael Wright led the USA team with 28 points and nine rebounds. Steve Lepore scored 15 points, Nick Collision scored 11 points and Lance Williams added 10 points.
