CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Two of Virginia's men's basketball standouts earned spots on the USA Men's Junior World Championship team. Sophomores Adam Hall and Chris Williams were among 12 members of the squad.

A third Cavalier, freshman Travis Watson, who was among the 16 finalists, did not participate in the final round of cuts for personal reasons.

Hall and Williams departed for Portugal with the team Friday. The squad will compete in the 16-team FIBA Men's Junior World Championship beginning Thursday. The competition runs through July 25.

The United States has made five previous appearances in the FIBA Men's Junior World Championship. In those appearances, the USA has a combined 31-8 (.795) record. The U.S. has won three gold medals and one silver in that span.
