July 16, 2001 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Pro summer leagues are into full swing this week, and no less than five former Terrapins are found on NBA summer rosters. Former Terps Rodney Elliott, Mike Mardesich and Laron Profit all are competing in the Shaw's Summer Pro League which takes place at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Elliott, who appeared in the Celtics' summer camp in 2000 and this year is with the Indiana Pacers, hits the floor first when his club takes on Milwaukee on Monday afternoon, July 16. On Tuesday, July 17, all three former Terps will play in games slated for ESPN2 and ESPN. Elliott's Pacers square off with San Antonio at 2 p.m., on ESPN2. Profit and top draft pick Kwame Brown lead the Washington Wizards against the host Celtics, and Mardesich, in an 8 p.m. game slated for ESPN. For Mardesich, it is his pro debut. In Southern California, the Summer Pro League plays its games at Long Beach State University, and features the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks, among others, which include former Maryland stars Terence Morris and Obinna Ekezie. Both SoCal Terps have seen considerable action in each of their games to date, with both Morris and Ekezie starting and scoring in double figures in every game.
