The NCAA men's basketball selection committee received a number of complaints from fans when George Mason, Georgetown, Maryland and Hampton were all sent to Boise, Idaho, for the first round of games. Maryland and Georgetown stayed on the road for two weeks out West, and after a three-day return to College Park, the Terrapins flew to Minneapolis.
Lost class time and the inability of local fans to follow highly-seeded tournament contenders has prompted the NCAA to review its bracketing procedures.
