Nate Doornekamp will play for the Toronto Raptors in two summer leagues

July 7, 2005

Boston College center Nate Doornekamp (Odessa, Ontario/Ernestown) will play for the Toronto Raptors in two summer leagues, according to an announcement by the NBA organization.

The 7-foot Doornekamp, who played in 127 games for the Eagles from 2001-05, will compete in the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, Calif., from July 8-11, and in the Minnesota Summer League in Minneapolis, Minn., from July 15-19. The games will be played in the Long Beach Pyramid and in the Target Center.

Doornekamp is one of eight players competing for the Raptors in both summer leagues. The remaining 10 players listed on the roster will participate in one of the two leagues. Among those on the Raptors' summer roster are several players from schools on BC's past schedules - Kevin Braswell (Georgetown), Omar Cook (St. John's), Bryant Matthews (Virginia Tech) and Charlie Villanueva (Connecticut).

Doornekamp averaged 5.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game for the Eagles this past winter. He played in and started all 30 games.
