TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Basketball practice begins just over 100 days from today. 102 to be exact. Steve Robinson's Seminoles are hard at work in the classroom, the weightroom and on the court in preparation for their No. 17 season-opener against Florida.

DEFENSIVE TREND CONTINUES Defensively, Florida State held its opponents under 50 percent shooting from the field for the 15th consecutive season. The Seminoles held their opponents to a .453 shooting percentage and held five opponents under 40 percent during the 2000-01 season. For the season, only four opponents shot above 50 percent in any single game. Florida State has held its' opponents to a .436 field goal shooting percentage during the four years of the Steve Robinson era. The Seminoles' field goal percentage defense of .407 during the 1998 season (Robinson's first as the Florida State head coach) was the sixth-best field goal defense percentage in school history.

ARRINGTON NEARS 1,000 CAREER POINT PLATEAU Senior point guard Delvon Arrington enters the 2001-02 season with 844 career points and needs 156 points to become only the 34th player in school history to score 1,000 or more career points. Former Seminoles Corey Louis (1,127 career points) and LaMarr Greer (1,022 career points) both reached that milestone during the 1997-98 season.

SEMINOLES' POINT GUARD AS THE LEADING SCORER Senior point guard Delvon Arrington averaged a career-high 11.5 points per game last season, as he became only the 5th player in school history to lead the team in scoring from the point guard position. The last point guard to lead the Seminoles in scoring was George McCloud who led the team during the 1988 and 1989 seasons. Arrington is looking to become the third player in school history to lead the team in scoring in consecutive years from the point guard position.

ARRINGTON ON THE ACC'S LISTS Senior point guard Delvon Arrington needs only 32 assists to move onto the ACC's all-time assist leaders list entering the 2001-02 season. In addition, he is ranked 14th all-time in the ACC with a 5.69 assists per game average.

GAMES PLAYED AND GAMES STARTED LIST AMONG RETURNING SEMINOLES Florida State returns one of the most experienced rotations in the ACC if not in college basketball. Led by senior Delvon Arrington, who has played in 89 games and started 88, the Seminoles' returning commonly used 10-man rotation has played in a cumulative total of 451 games with 206 starting assignments to their credit. Arrington also leads Florida State in ACC games only. Arrington has started 48 consecutive ACC games during his three-year career at Florida State. Together, the Seminole rotation has played in 252 and started 112 ACC.

ARRINGTON AMONG NATION'S ASSIST LEADERS FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE SEASON Senior guard Delvon Arrington enters the 2001-02 season as the third leading assists man in nation to return for the 2001-02 season. He begins the season with 506 career assists and trails only Markus Carr of Cal State Northridge (619 career assists) and Brandon Granville (595 career assists) on the list of the nation's leaders.

ALL-ACC CANDIDATE MICHAEL JOINER All-ACC candidate Michael Joiner, who led the Seminoles with a 6.0 rebounds per game average, ranked 15th in the ACC and 2nd overall among conference freshman in rebounding during the 2000-01 season. He joined Corey Louis (7.8 rpg in 1995) as the only freshmen in school history to lead the team in rebounding. Joiner now looks to join Louis as the only players to lead the Seminoles in rebounding during their first two seasons as the 2001-02 season gets underway.
