Raleigh, N.C. -
Ilian Evtimov and Ben McCauley of the NC State men's basketball team have been named to the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Basketball Team as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. NC State was one of just three ACC schools to have more than one player named. Evtimov was honored for the second year in a row, and McCauley earned the distinction after his freshman season. To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
A product of Sofia, Bulgaria, Evtimov was the team's fourth-leading scorer in 2005-06 averaging 10.4 points per game for the 22-10 Wolfpack. A four-year starter, Evtimov finished 32nd on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,214 points.
McCauley appeared in 27 games during his rookie campaign, averaging 2.1 points in 6.9 minutes per contest.
