Two of the ACC's hottest teams meet, with the Tar Heels riding an eight-game winning streak and the Seminoles having won five of six ... North Carolina won both regular-season meetings. Tyler Hansbrough's 22 points and 21 rebounds led an 84-73 overtime victory on Feb. 3 at Tallahassee. Jason Rich led Florida State with 22 points. The Tar Heels won 90-73 in Chapel Hill on Mar. 4 behind Hansbrough's 20 points and nine rebounds. Rich led all scorers with 27 points ... The teams met in last year's tournament quarterfinals, with North Carolina winning 73-58 en route to the championship ... The defending champion Tar Heels seek their fifth ACC Tournament title in Charlotte (previous four came in 1968, 1969, 1991 and 1994) ... Florida State is bidding for its first spot in the tournament semifinals since 1992, its first year as an ACC member.

The teams met once during the regular season, with Miami winning 74-71 in Blacksburg on Feb. 9. Jack McClinton scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half to lead the Hurricanes. The Hokies' A.D. Vassallo led all scorers with 24 points ... All 13 games between the two programs have been played since 2001, with Miami holding a 4-2 edge since both joined the ACC prior to the 2004-05 season ... The Hurricanes have won seven of their last nine games, while the Hokies have won four of five ... The winner of this game will advance to the tournament semifinals for the first time ... Virginia Tech dropped a 73-54 quarterfinal decision to fifth-seeded Georgia Tech in its only previous appearance as a No. 4 seed (2005 at Washington, D.C.) ... Duke and Georgia Tech met for the lone time during the regular season just over two weeks ago, with the Blue Devils posting a 71-58 win in Durham on Feb. 27. Gerald Henderson and DeMarcus Nelson scored 15 points apiece to lead Duke, while Matt Causey and Gani Lawal led Georgia Tech with 10 each ... Overall, the Blue Devils have won 22 of the last 24 in the series ... The last ACC Tournament meeting between the programs took place in 2005, when Duke defeated the Yellow Jackets 69-64 in the championship game at Washington, D.C. ... Georgia Tech holds an 8-6 record in ACC Tournament games played in Charlotte, including championships in 1990 and 1993 ... Clemson played host to Boston College on Feb. 2, winning 78-56. Cliff Hammonds' paced a balanced Tigers scoring attack with 14 points, and K.C. Rivers had 13. The Eagles' Tyrese Rice led all scorers with 17 points. It was the only regular-season meeting between the teams ... Clemson seeks its first ACC Tournament win since an 84-72 victory over Maryland in the opening round at Washington, D.C., in 2005. Boston College reached the title game during its first year as a league member in 2006 before losing to Duke and reached the semifinals last year before losing to North Carolina ...Clemson owns a 3-11 record in ACC Tournament games played at Charlotte. ... The No. 3 seed in the Tigers' highest since they played as the No. 1 seed in 1990 tournament at the Charlotte Coliseum.
