ACC FanFest Brings Family Fun and Excitement to Queen City

Charlotte, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference and its Official Corporate Partners present the 2008 ACC FanFest event, held in conjunction with the 2008 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament, Thursday, March 13 - Sunday, March 16 in Uptown Charlotte. ACC FanFest draws 25,000-30,000 fans each year as part of ACC Tournament week.

ACC FanFest will take place in Hall C of the Charlotte Convention Center and is FREE to the public. The Charlotte Convention Center is located at College Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and is a short walk from Bobcats Arena and the Uptown Hotels. It can also be accessed from the LYNX Blue Line at the Third Street stop.

Hours for ACC FanFest surround the action of the tournament games. ACC FanFest will be open Thursday, March 13th, 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, March 14th, 10:00am to 12:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturday, March 15th features extended hours of 11:00am to 4:00pm, Sunday, March 16th, 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Occupying over 40,000 square feet, ACC FanFest offers interactive games with both basketball and non-basketball themes, a climbing wall, video game station, official Tournament Merchandise, concessions and a large screen video board with a variety of ACC related programming, including the ability to watch the first semifinal game on Saturday.

In addition, the Official Corporate Partners of the ACC will bring even more excitement to the space. RBC Centura will offer free face painting and the opportunity for younger fans to nominate their favorite teacher in the Tribute to Teachers contest. GEICO will be on hand with daily prizes and the GEICO racing show car.

Brand new Chrysler and Jeep vehicles will be on display throughout the event, plus fans will have the opportunity to win a Chrysler Jeep ACC Tournament hat during daily shooting contests.

Alltel will present their newly named "Chief Basketball Officer of Fans" and will have Alltel spokesman "Chad" and ESPN personality Dick Vitale on hand Thursday starting at 5:30pm for an autograph session in their booth. Pepsi Live!, an interactive exhibit of live music, games and Pepsi vehicles, will give fans the opportunity to win one of three (3) pairs of tickets to Sunday's Championship game, as well as sample Diet Pepsi Max and Gatorade G2.

The Food Lion cooking stage will be operating two cooking shows per session and will feature a Food Lion chef with some former ACC greats lending a hand in the sessions on Friday at 10:00am (Al Wood-UNC) and 11:30am (Rodney Monroe-NC State) and on Saturday at 11:00am (Dell Curry-Va. Tech).

The RBC Centura Game Court will feature a clinic on Friday, March 14th from 5:30pm - 6:30pm with ACC stars Dell Curry (Virginia Tech) and Muggsy Bogues (Wake Forest). A second clinic on Sunday, March 16th from 11:30am - 12:30pm will be conducted by ACC stars Rodney Monroe (NC State) and Al Wood (North Carolina). On Saturday, March 15th at 12:00pm, several members of the 2008 ACC Legends Class will be signing autographs on the court.

ACCSelect.com, the conference's official broadband network featuring live and on-demand webcasts of Atlantic Coast Conference sports, will be showcased at the event. Fans will have the ability to see ACC Select programming live and on-demand, plus video board programming will feature ACC Select live streams of press conferences (when available) and Saturday's Legends Brunch, in addition to archived ACC events. ACC Select will also be giving away a basketball signed by the 2008 Class of ACC Legends.
