ACSMA Announces 2010-11 All-ACC Teams for Men's Basketball
March 7, 2011
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Duke guard Nolan Smith is the only unanimous selection to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball first team.
The All-ACC teams were announced Monday following a vote of 75 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
Smith was joined on the first team by Duke teammate Kyle Singler, Maryland's Jordan Williams, Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney and Boston College's Reggie Jackson. Smith, who leads the ACC with an average of 21.6 points and is second in assists, also made the league's all-defense team.
For the first time in league history, the outright ACC regular-season champion failed to place any players on the first team. North Carolina did have three players make the second team and another on the third team.
Tyler Zeller, John Henson and Harrison Barnes were on the second team and Kendall Marshall was a third-team selection, making the Tar Heels the first team to place four players across the three teams since they did it in 2005, when they won the national championship.
The Tar Heels also had two players unanimously selected to two other teams. Barnes appeared on all 75 ballots in voting for the all-freshman team, and Henson was a unanimous pick to the all-defensive team.
Delaney, the ACC's second-leading scorer at 18.8 points per game, and Singler were repeat first-team selections.
Barnes, who led all ACC freshmen with a 14-point average, was joined on the freshman team by Marshall, Wake Forest's Travis McKie, Maryland's Terrell Stoglin and North Carolina State's C.J. Leslie.
Henson, who blocked at least one shot in the Tar Heels' last 15 games, and Smith were joined on the defensive team by Georgia Tech's Iman Shumpert, Florida State's Chris Singleton and Clemson's Jerai Grant.
