Bobby Cremins Live Chat

The scheduled live chat with Bobby Cremins on Tuesday, March 5 was cancelled. Cremins was on his way to his home in Hilton Head, S.C. after attending the ACC Women's Basketball Tournament and was unable to call into the live chat at the scheduled time due to flight delays. TheACC.com was able to catch up with Cremins and tape some of his answers to some of the questions that were submitted. Cremins and TheACC.com apologize for the cancellation.

Danny, Germantown, MD
What is your opinion of the first team all-ACC team? It seems that teams off Tobacco Road still do not get the recognition that they deserve. The last standings that I saw, Maryland won the ACC by two full games over Duke.

Bobby Cremins
It is hard to argue with that first team. I have to agree with that first team. If there was a sixth person on that team it would be Lonny Baxter, but it would be take leave off one of those guys that were ahead of him on there.

Mark, Washington DC
What are Tech's chances in the ACC tourney? Also, St. Patrick's Day is almost here. Is it true that you are 100% Irish?

Bobby Cremins
Tech is one of the hottest teams in the league. Paul Hewitt has completely turned the team around from their 0-7 starts, one of the best turnarounds ever. They have nothing to lose. They are playing loose and with a lot of confidence.

My parents were born in Ireland, I am first generation Irish. I was born in the Bronx, NY and I am 100 percent Irish-American.

Stephen, Charlottesville, VA
How many ACC schools will make it to the NCAA tournament? Which ones (Maryland, Duke, and Wake Forest should be locks, NC State should be in, UVa should make it if they can beat NC State Friday).

Bobby Cremins
I think five. Virginia had such a great year up until lately, but they're win against Duke gave them new life.

James, Pittsboro, NC
Should Duke and Maryland play in the ACC final, who's your pick? Would the revenge factor help Duke since no one has beaten them twice in a season since 1998?

Bobby Cremins
Right now, Maryland. Maryland is the favorite, they are now the hunted. Duke now has to come after Maryland.

Craig, Ennice, NC
I would first like to say that I am the biggest GTech fan in the world and I hated to see you go. You have always been my favorite coach and Mark Price my favorite player. Is it possible to see you and Mark Price doing some commentating together in the future?

That could be possible. As far as Georgia Tech, I enjoyed my run at Tech, but it was definitely time for me to go. Seeing what Paul Hewitt is doing I know I made the right decision.

Tommy Farmer, Henderson
Vitale thinks Sendek should be the ACC coach of the year, but his team gave away some wins this year. Shouldn't Williams of Maryland get more consideration that Sendek?

Bobby Cremins
Gary is considered for national coach of the year and he'll get regional coach of the year. Considering the circumstances, I am going to go with Herb Sendek. The writers probably will vote Gary, but considering that Herb's job was on the line and he turned his team around, I am going to go with Herb.

Kurt, Detroit
Can Georgia Tech become a contender next season with all of their young talent despite the loss of Tony Akins?

Bobby Cremins
Absolutely, Georgia Tech is a team of the future for two main reasons, they have a lot of young players on their present team and they had a great recruiting class.

m alban littlestown pa
who has the best chance to win the national title kansas, maryland or duke?

Bobby Cremins
I am going to say Duke because of experience.
