CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Colin Ducharme of the University of Virginia has been selected to the 2000 GTE Academic All-District III Men's Basketball Team. Other members of the team include Shane Battier of Duke, Matt Gladieux of Coastal Carolina, Nathan Jameson of UNC-Greensboro and Joseph Lumpkin of the College of Charleston.

District III is comprised of all Division I schools in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher. These players are now eligible for the national GTE Academic All-America Men's Basketball Team, which will be announced March 14th.

Ducharme, a 6-9 center/forward from Richmond, Va., is a physics major. A red-shirt junior, he has played in 25 games for the Cavaliers this season, starting two. He is averaging 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds a game, while shooting 44.4 percent (16-36) from the field and 72.2 percent (13-18) from the free throw line. Ducharme is third on the team in blocked shots with 11 and ranks in a tie for sixth on Virginia's career blocked shots list with 86.

Virginia currently has an overall record of 18-8 and an 8-5 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
