Maryland's Greivis Vasquez and Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors earn ACC Basketball Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland’s Greivis Vasquez has been named ACC Player of the Week while Georgia Tech’s has earned ACC Rookie of the Week recognition. In earning the Player of the Week Award for the third time this season and for the seventh time in his career, Vasquez averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds as Maryland moved into second place in the ACC with wins over Virginia, NC State and Georgia Tech. In an 85-66 win over Virginia Monday, the Caracas, Venezuela, senior had 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Two nights later in a 67-58 road victory at NC State, Vasquez totaled 26 points, six assists and four rebounds. In Saturday’s 76-74 win over Georgia Tech, Vasquez became the 41st player in ACC history to score 2,000 points in his career when he netted a team-high 18 points to go along with eight assists and five rebounds.
